Lena & Adam

September beach weddings in Florida can sometimes call for rain, and last weekends did just that. Even though it rained all day, it stopped just for Lena & Adam’s ceremony and portrait time. When we all made it inside for the reception, the rain came back again for an encore!

This couple is from my original hometown of Columbus, Ohio! It was so fun to talk about Ohio with them and their families, and they were so thoughtful as to bring me some buckeye chocolates (chocolate covered peanut butter).  You guys are awesome!

The grey overcast actually allowed for some nice lighting.

I love playing with textures.

For their ring shot, I put the rings on a branch of a tree they had set up in the foyer of their reception room. Hanging on the tree branches were name cards for the guests to see which table to sit at, so creative!

Thanks for the fun evening and making me feel like one of the family, you guys! Congrats :)

So many butterflies! Visiting the Butterfly Rainforest in Gainesville, Fl was awesome! As soon as my friend Caroline and I walked into their 4 story screened in exhibit I was surrounded by big beautiful butterflies. Even being distracted with a few landing on our heads and shoulders, I was able to focus on photographing some close ups. Here are a few of my faves…

Here you can see the butterfly digging for some nectar

I love how you can see all the nectar built up on his tongue. I guess he’s saving some for later!

Look at this handsome boy!

That was the handsome smile that I saw when I first met this little guy. He did such a good job at giving me so many different expressions.
